Recent Shangri La Hangzhou Review: "Hangzhou was described as a "beautiful, historic small city only 1 1/4 away from Shanghai that provides an interesting and restful glimpse of 'Old China'... picturesque West Lake, tea plantations, many beautiful parks and pagodas, etc." All that was true, and the Shangrila is the IDEAL place to stay, especially if you're burnt out and need a change of pace from Shanghai. The hotel is outstanding... perfect location, spectacular grounds and views (especially their Executive Club), attentive staff, well-maintained facilities, etc. Great for couples, families, and business groups. Only people for whom may not be ideal are business travelers, as the hotel is on the other side of the lake from the downtown central business district... but even for them, the hotel is only a 15 min cab ride from downtown. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for everyone else."
